Successful West Kent theatre school – and OC client – The JPA Academy is expanding with the launch of classes in Sevenoaks this month. The JPA Academy, run by tutors with West End backgrounds in musical theatre, will be holding lessons in acting, singing and dancing on Thursday evenings, from 4.15 – 7.15pm.
Held at St Luke’s Hall, Eardley Road, Sevenoaks, the first lesson – billed as a taster session – is completely free. Taking place on Thursday 19 September, anyone interested in attending should call the Academy on: 07870 460687 or email.
The JPA Academy launched two years ago in Tunbridge Wells and has proven to be a huge hit with ‘star-struck’ youngsters, aged 5 -17. During that time many JPA students have gone on to enjoy stage and screen success, including leading performances in London’s West End.
Based around school term times, September is the start of the JPA year – which includes performances at their own Summer and Christmas shows. Full details of this year’s Christmas show are to be announced – but proceeds from all ticket sales will go to local children’s hospice charity, ChYps.
Rachel Holweger, Director of Fundraising at ChYps, says: “We’re delighted to be working with The JPA Academy; there’s a touching synergy in having young people help raise funds for ChYps. Hopefully our work will resonate with the students, their parents and friends – raising both money and awareness.
ChYps launched in 1994, offering hospice care in North West Kent and Bexley. Working in partnership with the NHS, last year ChYps expanded its service into Mid and West Kent covering Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. More information on the charity can be found on their website.
